5 Ways to Stop Anxiety and Panic

Anxiety and panic are very common PTSD symptoms that happen as a result of a traumatic relationship.  In this video I talk about 5 ways to stop anxiety and panic.

In my client sessions I have found the intense anxiety as a result of narcissistic abuse, is one of the most difficult and painful issues.  I remember how it felt to suffer through this intense anxiety myself.  It seemed like nothing I did really helped it go away.  But what I discovered is I was trying to use my mind and my intellect to control the anxiety.

Anxiety can’t be controlled through our conscious thinking mind, because it is a product of your autonomic nervous system.  The world “autonomic” means automatic.  The feelings of anxiety are automatically produced from the subconscious mind as a result of sensing danger.  The only way to really deal with the intense feelings of anxiety are to find ways to communicate safety to the body, which is feeling very “unsafe.”

In this video I would like to talk to you about five different ways you can communicate safety to the body and get it to calm down.  These are simple things you can do every day to alleviate the anxiety and be much more relaxed.  I give you five different ways to stop anxiety and panic so that you can try different things and find what works best for you.

The most important thing to remember is that when you experience intense anxiety, the body consciousness does not feel safe.  It senses danger and produces the fight or flight feelings in your body.  This is preparing you to react to the danger; to get away.  The only problem here is the danger is usually already in the past, or it is only a threat of future danger that has not happened.  Since our subconscious mind, the part of us that controls involuntary bodily functions, doesn’t know the difference between present, past and future, if it senses a threat, it reacts to that threat.  It is your job to communicate with your body consciousness or subconscious mind, that there is no threat.  You are safe!  In this moment, you are safe.

I invite you to watch the video “5 Ways to Stop Anxiety and Panic” as I demonstrate tools that you can use to self soothe and communicate safety to your body.
