The Emotionally Sensitive Person

If you are an emotionally or energetically sensitive person, you may have heard “you’re too sensitive,” by friends, family members, partners, etc.  And this can be really painful.  Because we learn early on to interpret “you’re too sensitive,” as “there is something wrong with you.”

If you consider yourself to be emotionally or energetically sensitive, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you.  You belong to a group that makes up roughly 20% of our population.  Sensitive people are often found to be the most loving, caring, empathic, intuitive and creative personalities.  Our sensing, feeling nature is strong which means we may pick up on the emotions of others and believe they are ours.

This is why, if you are a sensitive, it is super important that you understand your own nature, so that you aren’t acting as an emotional sponge, absorbing all the repressed and disowned emotions of others.

My podcast this week is devoted to understanding the emotionally sensitive person’s role in the family of origin.  This could shed insight for you, in your family of origin relationships but also all other relationships.  Also if you don’t consider yourself to be sensitive, but have a family member, friend or partner who is, you will want to check out this podcast as well.
